Design Tip: Styling Pillows on Beds

Design Tip: Styling Pillows on Beds

A couple of weeks ago I shared my go to formula for styling pillows on sofas, benches and chairs.  Today I’m taking this Design Tip series into the bedroom and sharing my favourite, stylish, no-fuss pillow arrangements for King, Queen/Full and Twin beds.  Whether you love a decadent bed filled with pillows or a more minimalist approach, I promise there’s an arrangement for you.

Vanity Basics

Project Urban Cowboy Bathroom Basics

Every design project has a spring board, an element that is the inspiration from which everything else develops.  In the #ProjectUrbanCowboy master en-suite, that jumping off point was the matte black fixtures.  Sleek and modern, I was thrilled when my clients agreed to them.  In particular the wall mounted faucets, which offer a clean and crisp look to the vanity.  But unlike deck mounted faucets, wall mounted faucets require significant more forethought and planning.  Given their popularity, I thought I would break down the basics of designing around them for you.

2019 Paint Trends

2019 Paint Trends

I love a white, bright space just as much as the next designer.  But lately, I find myself craving a little more colour on the walls.  It might be because the 2019 paint trends are right up my alley.  Inspired by nature, tones of stone, earth, forest and sky reign supreme.  The overall affect is a soothing and elegant palette that works in everything from kitchens to bedrooms to bathroom.  I’m sharing some of my favourites below.

2019 Interior Design Trends

There are some things that are certain with the flip of the calendar to a new year – goals, chilly temps (if you live in Calgary), and predictions for what will be trending in the coming year. No matter if we’re talking about fashion, technology, food or interior design, the new year inevitably brings with it a list of what’s going to be hot.

Styling 101: Bookshelves

When I first delved into the world of interiors – professionally – I struggled with what to call myself.  I hesitated to call myself a designer as I’m not formally trained and decorator didn’t quite feel right. It’s only been in the last few months that I’ve come up a title – Stylist. I style spaces. From finishes to furnishing to accessories, I style.  I’m an interior stylist.

Parisian Brunch

A Parisian Brunch

There are only a few things I love more than brunch – my family and friends, design, travel … but then, it’s definitely brunch.  I’ve often joked that if I do ever get married, I’ll serve brunch at the reception!

Why the intense love for Brunch? It always feels a bit classy and special – the bubbles probably have something to do with that 😉 The food options are literally doubled – breakfast and lunch to choose from, depending on the mood. And it usually lingers into the early afternoon. Rarely is anyone ever in a hurry to leave.
