2019 Paint Trends

I love a white, bright space just as much as the next designer.  But lately, I find myself craving a little more colour on the walls.  It might be because the 2019 paint trends are right up my alley.  Inspired by nature, tones of stone, earth, forest and sky reign supreme.  The overall affect is a soothing and elegant palette that works in everything from kitchens to bedrooms to bathroom.  I’m sharing some of my favourites below.

Stone tones are a beautiful, warm neutral.  A great alternative to the often cool undertones of grey.  Shiitake from Sherwin Williams and Stone 3 from Portola Paints are particularly lovely.

A modern take on forest green. Thought to bring the healing properties of nature into the home.  Night Watch from PPG (Dulux) and Salamander Green from Benjamin Moore are two of my favourites.

Blues will always have my heart.  Behr’s 2019 Colour of the Year was Blueprint, a gorgeous blue that falls somewhere between denim and navy.  It has depth, warm and charm.  I feel like this will be a go to for years.  Seattle Haze from Valspar and Blue Note from Benjamin Moore are two others I adore.

Pantone named Living Coral as the Colour of the Year for 2019, which is fun and vibrant, but a little too much for me.  I much prefer Cavern Clay, Sherwin Williams Colour of Year.  Earthy and elemental, it’s vibrant in a more soulful and elegant way.

Echoing my feelings about living coral, Blushing Bride by Valspar is a sophisticated and elegant update from Millennial Pink.  I am officially obsessed.

And lastly, saturated greys and black.  These tones offer richness, depth and character.  Cheating Heart or Blank Panther by Benjamin Moore are particularly delicious.
