A couple months ago I was asked to design the main stage for the Calgary Fall Home Show. An undertaking I knew a little something about, as I was a featured designer at the Home + Garden Show earlier this year.

Today’s Design Tip: How High to Hang Curtains piggybacks on my previous tip: How High to Hang Art. Once again it’s something I see done incorrectly so often, yet it’s really quite simple. And once again it’s a numbers game.
Today’s Design Tip is probably the easiest and yet the one I most often see done incorrectly. How high to art. Being off by just a few inches can make all the difference. And once you understand the numbers, it’s really very simple.

Every design project has a spring board, an element that is the inspiration from which everything else develops. In the #ProjectUrbanCowboy master en-suite, that jumping off point was the matte black fixtures. Sleek and modern, I was thrilled when my clients agreed to them. In particular the wall mounted faucets, which offer a clean and crisp look to the vanity. But unlike deck mounted faucets, wall mounted faucets require significant more forethought and planning. Given their popularity, I thought I would break down the basics of designing around them for you.

I’m sharing some of my favourites below.

No matter if we’re talking about fashion, technology, food or interior design, the new year inevitably brings with it a list of what’s going to be hot.
