Design Crush: Anatomy of a Scandal

Design Crush: Anatomy of a Scandal

SHOP THE POST

If you’re anything like me, you devoured Anatomy of a Scandal on Netflix.  Based on the book by Sarah Vaughan, the psychological thriller tells the story Sophie (Sienna Miller), the attractive albeit long-suffering wife of James Whitehouse (Rupert Friend), an ambitious Tory MP in the British government.  While the story itself is predictable, the stunning interiors, Sienna Miller’s impossibly chic style and my love of Rupert Friend, had me captivated.

Design Crush: Jewel Tones

Design Crush: Weathered Jewel Tones

While I’m not sure I’ll ever tire of a tone on tone, neutral space, I do like to inject colour into the spaces I’m working on from time to time. And when it comes to choosing a colour to add, I invariable end up leaning towards jewel tones.  In particular, those that look a little weathered and worn. Like they’ve been around for a while. Nothing adds soul to a space like something with history and these weather jewel tones add a depth and richness that I can’t get enough of.  I’ve rounded up some of the spaces and colours I’m most inspired by below.

Design Crush: Dark Paint

Design Crush: Dark Paint

I love spaces that feel like a deep, relaxing exhale.  The kind that are comfortable and encourage lingering.  While I tend to gravitate towards shades of white and neutral palettes, lately I’ve fallen in love with dark and moody spaces.  They feel captivating, like a cozy embrace.  The darker tones feel elevated and offer depth and character in a way a white space can’t.  I’ve rounded up some of favourites below.  What do you think?

Design Crush: Black Artists

It’s been a month since George Floyd was murdered.  And while we still have miles and miles to go, I am hopeful.  The world feels a little different and the movement feels stronger and deeper than it ever has.

I like so many of you I have spent the last few weeks reading, learning and reflecting.  In my exploration I’ve come across a number of captivating black designers and creators that I’d like to share with you.  Although I’m not entirely sure what change looks like, I know I want to be a part of it. I hope you enjoy.
